2022

The General Congress organized by the International Academy of Comparative Law was held in Asuncion (Paraguay) in October 2022. 11 professors of the Law Faculty in Timisoara were appointed as national rapporteurs and covered 9 sections of the Congress, while Professor Raluca Bercea and Associate Professor Andreea Vertes-Olteanu acted as general rapporteurs for the section “The Law and Bioethics of End-of-Life Decisions”. The national and general reports are forthcoming with Intersentia, in 2023 and 2024.

On the 30th anniversary of the Law Faculty, a series of conferences under the title “Law in Context” is co-hosted by the ECtHR Judge and Professor Iulia-Antonella Motoc and Professor Raluca Bercea. Special guests will shed light on law from various disciplinary perspectives.

2023

1. The International Conference Smart Diaspora organized by the West University in Timișoara on 11-13 April 2023 included an exploratory workshop proposed by the Faculty of Law in Timișoara on the general topic “Sustainability, security and resilience for citizens and communities”. Our Centre for Comparative Law and Interdisciplinarity had the pleasure to host in Timisoara Professor Vlad Constantinesco, the honorary dean of the International Faculty of Comparative Law in Strasbourg that several professors of the Faculty of Law in Timișoara graduated from.
2. Members of our Centre attended the conference “Drawing Legal Pictures: The Worldview and its Implication for the Purpose and Method of Comparative Law” organized in Lausanne in May 2023 by the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law. 
3. Within the framework “Timișoara 2023 – European Capital of Culture”, together with the Ambassy of France in Romania, our Centre organized the international conference “Freedom of Expression in Crisis”, open to lawyers, journalists, students, and civil society, in the presence of her excellency the Ambassador Laurence Auer. 
4. Members of our Centre attended the International Conference organized in Strasbourg in June 2023 by the International Faculty of Comparative Law on the topic “La privatisation du droit au prisme du droit comparé”.
5. Members of our Centre attended the International Days organized in Łódź, Poland, in June 2023, by Association ‘Henri Capitant’, on “The Environmental Responsibility”.
